My cover of the big issue would read in large in bold black text in all capital letters “HEAR OUR VOICE” This would be because “OUR” means everyone in the general public, and this implies we are the voice of the common people, valuing the opinions of normal people is a socialist idea because Socialism is about common people taking over for the good of the people, and since the big issue’s a left-wing, socialist publication this fits the style of the magazine. Also, the use of all capital letters makes it strong because capital letters denote someone speaking in a loud or firm manner which makes it seem more serious. Also, the message would be directed towards MPs who should listen to the general public about Brexit rather than dismiss them.

This would then be followed up by a sub-heading that reads “whilst the 650 MPs squabble in parliament over Brexit we focus on the rest of us 66 million people wondering what is happening to our country”. I focus on the number of MPs compared to the population of Britain because I want to highlight the normal people in this country whose lives are being affected because of Brexit and what they think rather than focus on what the politicians are thinking. Also, I use the word “squabble” to focus on the pettiness of M. Ps in the run up to Brexit such as MPs leaving their parties for example because a “squabble” implies that they are fighting over something extremely petty and pointless. Also I use the words “The rest of us” because that implies that the magazine is siding with the common people and by focusing on Normal people instead of politicians it creates a “David vs Goliath” story because it is the normal people of Britain who have very little power vs a few politicians who have a lot of power. I did this because focusing on this type of story reflects the values of The Big issue who like to focus on this sort of story.

The cover is then covered with people such as an EU migrant, a homeless man, a Remainer, a brexiteer and a family. This is to show a wide array of people and represent as much people as possible in the British public as possible, this matches the big issue because since their audience covers a wide array of people from the ages of 20-50 so it’s likely they will all have differing opinions on Brexit and this means the magazine will want to not alienate anyone incase they don't buy the magazine which would mean the vendor loses money. Also the audience will likely be sympathetic to the homeless and European Migrant because firstly both those demographics are a large amount of the workforce which makes up the people selling the big issue.
