This mood-board represents some of the inspirations, representations and themes I want to present in my magazine.
Starting on the top right corner I have number of pictures with the 'vaporware' art-style, I have chosen this theme as I like vaporware because it started as a style of music which was an underground genre hence it will be immediately recognisable to my audience who are fans of underground music genres. It also has a really eye catching style with the mix of bright and dark colours which shall catch the audiences attention.
On the bottom right corner is an Urban/street art-style. I have chosen these images because urban art is a art-style which often expresses individuality, uniqueness, political activism, being able to stray away from the mainstream conventions and using techniques such as cultural blending and bricolage to take one art form and create something new with it. It is also often originated in urban environments and is created by artists who are overlooked or shunned by a art community which they were in. These elements can be translated to a lot of underground music genres which is why Urban art and underground which is why it fits with my audience. Especially the aspect of individuality is important since that reflects one of the core themes of the magazine because voyage magazine is about the readers journey in life.
on the top left corner there is a painting called the 'voyage of life' and pictures which represent the voyage or journey of life. I have choose this because these images show one of the key aspects of the magazine which is about the readers 'voyage' through life. These images especially the painting represent the journey we all take through life. This fits with one of the major themes of my magazine which is individuality. This is because the magazines audience are 16-25 years old, and at that age they want to fin out 'who they are
on the bottom right corner there are pictures representing various minority and symbols of feminism for example the famous black and feminist icon Grace Jones. I have chosen this because one of my themes for my magazine is giving minority and feminist voices involved in the magazine. I have chosen this because linking back to my them of individuality feminism and minority music is often empowering to people who are the same as the artist and can help them feel better about themselves which makes them embrace aspects about themselves.
In the centre there are three alternative music magazines that have inspired my magazine. From left to right there is Wax Poetical who inspired me through their emphasis on minority voices, Wire who inspired me through their emphasis on individuality and Trax who inspired me through their bright front cover colour scheme which was very visually impressive. All these magazines I have put on here because I shall use all their different aspects so I can use all their best aspects and roll them into one.
The final theme I have put on the page is bright colours on dark backgrounds. I have put them on here because for one of my covers I intend to use this style to make the magazine cover more visually striking.
