In my role for my ‘urban’ project I have casted my friend Lewis Willmore to model as a role for my fictional Jazz Artist ‘Prophet’. Prophet is a artist who has made his name as a skilled Jazz musician and his story of personal revolves around him learning to create music that he wants to make rather than just chasing trends . I picked Lewis for this role because the character is someone who is really creative and fun and Lewis himself has qualities which reflect this aspect of the character (such as he’s a really creative person) I believe this will make it easier for Lewis to capture the essence of the character and will make it easier to turn the character into a real person on the front cover. Additionally Lewis is easy to direct and is an easy person to collaborate with because of he doesn’t complain and gets on with his task, this quality and the fact we’re friends will make it easier because I am aiming to do a tough photo shoot across various locations in Bristol which will have a lot of walking and will be tiring so me knowing I can rely on Lewis is vital in this photo shoot. He also has very good knowledge of Cameras which is good since I am not very knowledgeable of photography so he can help me out in getting good quality shots.
For my other cover I have Jenny Willmore as my model to play the female vapourware DJ Lexi Elliot. Lexi Elliot’s Journey revolves around her struggles of being female in music which lot of the time means she gets sexist abuse and is a lot of the time compared with other female artists, over time she learnt to embrace her being female and her shoot is aimed as trying to reflect her as a strong willed Feminist. Jenny is perfect for this roll as she herself is a person who can project a strong sense of pride over her identity to others, she has also helped in both drama and photography projects before so she has a skill of being Able to project emotions which is vital for being able to translate the characters qualities onto the page.
